WHERE: Village Theatre Guild of Glen Ellyn, located at the corner of Park Blvd. and Butterfield Road.

WHAT: This is an “Open Call” audition. No appointment is necessary. This is a non-equity, non-pay production.

Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. Sides are posted on VTG website. No monologues are necessary but prepared monologue will be seen if actor chooses to share. All those auditioning are encouraged to provide a resume of their onstage experience and provide a list of all potential conflicts including travel. Any conflicts with the posted schedule must be discussed with the Producer and agreed to by the Director before casting can be confirmed.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Village Theatre Guild requires all those who attend auditions to present proof of their COVID vaccination and to be masked.

  • Fridays and Saturdays – March, 17, 18, 24, 25, 31 and April 1, 7, 8 at 8 pm
  • Matinees at 2 pm March 19, 26 and April 2, 8

synopsis

In David Mamet’s Pulitzer Prize winning play, four Chicago real estate agents will go to any means to make a sale. When management forces a sales contest on the office, the winners and losers emerge with ruthless ambition.

roles/character descriptions

Shelly Levene (M) – Late 50’s early 60’s – Salesman who was successful years ago, but recently has hit a streak of bad luck. He desperately wants to save his career, and this desperation is usually grotesquely apparent.

John Williamson (M) – Late 40’s – The manager of the real estate office whose job is to oversee the operations of the office and to assign the leads.

Dave Moss (M) – 40’s – 50’s – A decent but angry real estate salesman who harbors a great deal of resentment toward the company.

George Aaronow (M) – 30’s – 50’s – A timid real estate salesman who is extremely meek and mild-mannered. He is worried about being fired.

Richard Roma (M) – 30’s – 40’s – A big-shot real estate salesman who is smart, charming, and incredibly quick-witted.

James Lingk (M) – 20’s – 60’s – A quiet, timid man who is overshadowed by his wife when it comes to business deals.

Baylen (M) – 20’s – 60’s – A police detective called in to investigate theft at the office.
