Based on the true experiences of the playwright, Trying explores how an aging architect of WWII, Francis Biddle (Attorney General under FDR and Chief Judge at Nuremberg), and a young girl from Canada hired as his secretary, "try" to understand and appreciate the disparity but also the similarities of their lives.
